Mr Taylor's last day
Mr Taylor had a wonderful last day at Saltergate Junior School. Due to the very generous donations from staff, past and present, parents and governors we were able to buy him some fantastic gifts. We gave him a voucher for a nights stay in a beautiful hotel in the Lake District, a place where we knew he wanted to spend more time, and a guide book for walks in the area. We also presented him with an engraved pewter tankard to commemorate his time here. Another great love of Mr Taylor’s is fresh fish and seafood, so with the remaining donations we got him some vouchers for Ramus Seafoods in Harrogate.
By far his favourite item he received on the day was an amazing scrapbook put together by the children of the school. He was able to flick through it during his leavers assembly where the children sang songs to him, some of which the lyrics had been altered to be personal to him. The staff even performed their own version of ‘Goodbye Ruby Tuesday’ entitled ‘Goodbye Mr Taylor’
At the end of the day local school staff and parents were invited for tea, coffee and cakes and to say their goodbyes. Mr Taylor presented Saltergate Junior School with a fantastic engraved award that will be given to a student every year, in his name.
